1.1.2 is finally software unlocked!
Page 2

Michael Scott: "Who's this old fart? Did you just stagger off the street? Out of a box or something? Who is this worthless bag of bones."

For those who waited patiently, we're glad to give you some good news. Thanks to iPhone hacker George Hotz {pictured above} (alias: geohot) [((Make a Donation))], the iPhone is now software unlocked for iPhones originally on 1.1.2 or 1.1.3 with bootloader 4.6! That's right - for those people with iPhones that required a StealthSIM/TurboSIM/NextSIM etc., this is no longer the solution you need! There is now a software version available for you to unlock your iPhone!

Our Simple 8 Step Tutorial

1. Download the gunlock files (Alternative Link)
2. Open Installer on your jailbroken 1.1.2 OTB and install OpenSSH and Term-vt100 (under System)
3. Connect via WiFi to your iPhone using WinSCP
4. Copy all the files (gunlock, ICE04.02.13_G.fls and secpac) to /usr/bin
5. Set permissions of gunlock to CHMOD 0755 in WinSCP
6. Put iPhone in airplane mode
7. Execute the following commands in Terminal:

launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

gunlock secpack ICE04.02.13_G.fls

launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist

8. Restart iPhone and throw your AT&T sim out of the window - then make a donation to geohot.

Thanks geohot!

Unsure about unlocking your iPhone? Too risky? Too scared? Don't have the right programs? We are accepting service orders (for late February) for unlocking OTB 1.1.2/1.1.3. All service requests will receive free return postage, customisation of the iPhone phone format for Australia and installation of any 3rd party applications requested (games, dictionary, voice recorder). We'll be giving a percentage of our service sales as a donation to geohot for his efforts :) - Contact us today to arrange a pre-order.

I've got 5 iPhones in front of me, 2 have been bricked with the damn Repair Needed message. I've had to upgrade to 1.1.3 then down to 1.1.1. The commands have not worked for me sofar. But Bigboss has released a script to do it all for you.. Which is nice, hopefully it will work for those two bricked phones. I also have an 1.1.3 OTB which I will try out later tonight ;)

Well well.. iPhone with 1.1.1 got the bad Repair Nedded error after a failed unlock, had to be updated to 1.1.3 so the firmware and baseband could be reflashed by the new Firmware 1.1.3 version.. Downgrade to 1.1.1, jailbreakme.com method, install BSD subsystem, VT100 terminal, community sources.. Ran OktoPrep and UPDATED (not restored) to 1.1.2.. Launch iNdependence to kick out of recovery.. Jailbreak with the Jailbreak.jar file.. Install Bigboss Geohot script file found in his depository.. Run terminal on the iphone.. run 2 commands: cd /usr/bin and then geounlock.. Takes about 2 minutes

Maybe this will help someone out there.

If one morning I walked on top of the water across the Potomac River, the headline that afternoon would read "President Can't Swim".
