Custom Ringtones for 1.1.3 / 1.1.4 PDF Print E-mail
Many many months ago, we wrote this article teaching you how to upload custom ringtones to your iPhone. That method is now outdated, with most iPhones now on newer firmware versions such as 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 and thus making that tutorial useless. However today, we're going to give you a short 5 step tutorial on how to upload any custom ringtones of any length to your iPhone.

How to put custom ringtones of any length on your 1.1.3 / 1.1.4 iPhone

[1] Download WinSCP or Fugu (or similar program that allows you to access your phone files) and connect to your iPhone through the IP.
[2] Open up the Library/Ringtones folder (1.1.3/1.1.4) or Var/Ringtones (Earlier firmware versions)
[3] Double click your .mp3 file and open it in iTunes. Right click on it and convert to AAC. After it finishes converting, right click on the new file (should be listed above the previous one) and Show in Windows Explorer.
[4] Change the file extension (in Windows Explorer) from .m4a to .m4r
[5] Drag the file into the Ringtones folder and you're done!
