We've just opened our brand new sister-site to iPhone Unlock Australia. iPhone in Australia will be opening today, focusing on iPhone news, rumours and reviews. This will mean iPhone Unlock Australia will primarily be focused on the unlocking and technical side of the iPhone, while iPhone in Australia will provide news on the iPhone's future release. Thus, the reviews we will plan to post will be now posted over in our new site, so don't forget to subscribe to the new RSS feed! |

Did you really click update on iTunes when it promised you a brand new shiny update?
Oh no.
Your iPhone is now blocked due to the change in firmware and bootloader. The latest release by Apple, firmware 1.1.3 (04.03) updates your iPhone and makes it much harder to unlock. If you accidentally updated, there is not much you can do now unfortunately. The term used by the iPhone community is that your iPhone is 'bricked'. At the current time, there is a slim chance that your iPhone will ever make a call again or receive SMS as the hacking community has slowed down until the release of the SDK (Software Development Kit) in February. The only option you do have is to downgrade your iPhone as an iPod Touch and use it as one.
We're receiving dozens and dozens of e-mails every hour about iPhones accidentally updated to 1.1.3 - please don't send any more - there is nothing that anyone out there can help you with making it a functional iPhone... for now anyway. |

After you install the StealthSIM correctly, and after the authorisation prompt from StealthSIM to validate it is a genuine product, you will realise that you cannot open up the SMS or phone keypad app without the phone crashing. This is because the SIM card is not validated for foreign SIM cards. To solve this, simply open up Installer (the blue button), click on All Packages, scroll down and select iWorld (55.17KB). After the program installs, reboot your iPhone and you're done :) The iWorld app fixes crash on 1.1.2 when used with foreign SIM cards.

Optus has emerged as the dark horse in the race between mobile carriers for exclusive rights to launch the iPhone in Australia. Thailand's largest mobile operator, Advanced Info Service (AIS), said it was negotiating a deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Asia. The telco's chief marketing officer, Sanchai Thiewprasertkul , told the Bangkok Post that AIS was collaborating with Singapore Telecom (SingTel) and Optus to launch the iPhone throughout the region. Optus is a wholly owned subsidiary of SingTel, and SingTel owns 21.4 per cent of AIS. "Mr Sanchai said that AIS, in collaboration with SingTel and the Australian mobile operator Optus, were discussing phone volumes, marketing terms and business model partnerships," the Bangkok Post reported. Optus spokeswoman Melissa Clare declined to comment on the matter but said Optus continued to look at emerging technologies to deliver to customers. The iPhone is now on sale in the US and Europe. Apple said it will launch the touch screen phone-music player hybrid in Australia this year. But that hasn't prevented many Australians from importing the device from the US and, using various hacks, unlocking it for use on local mobile networks. Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo has said he had conversations with Apple about bringing the iPhone to Australia, and many predicted a deal would be announced early this year. Apple has refused to comment. |

SMS received from internet is scrambled/not working?
From iphone.unlock.no: For some ridiculous reason, Apple did not add real support for the SMS standard. The result is that SMS sent with a alphanumeric/non standard number will either not be recieved at all or the text will get scrambled as shown on the screenshot below. This bug may even damage the SMS database on your phone. It took Apple some time, but in 1.1.2 it's finally fixed, so we can just use the phone application from 1.1.2 on 1.1.1 (1.0.2 or older is not supported currently).
How to fix the SMS problem easily:
1. Open installer, and tap Sources, Edit and Add.
2. Type in http://i.unlock.no/ and Ok then Done.
3. Now tap on Install at the bottom and scroll down to the Unlocking Tools category
4. Install SMS Fix
5. When done installing, reboot your phone and it should work
You can now receive SMSs from NetBank and other online banking services, Australia Post's postal notification service as well as voicemail notifications from your service provider!
