What? 1.1.4? When's that coming out? Who told you this? Where are my socks? Rumours have it that 1.1.4 is currently being developed by the folks at Apple.

Features you may expect include:
* Support for Flash as well as files with extensions .docx/.doc/.txt etc.
* Adding a file manager (Using your iPhone as an external hard drive)
* Adding a "clipboard" to manage copied and pasted text
* The ability to send files from the clipboard via email or bluetooth
* A more complete Bluetooth manager (Ability to send files)
* iChat (Through Wifi)
That only means a brand new locking system as well, locking OTB 1.1.4 as well as accidental upgrades. |

iPhone Unlock Australia has been operating since October 2007. Since opening our doors, we've received many many e-mails, varying from support to thank you messages. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions we get asked very often, as well as some additional information you might not have thought you knew. Thanks to iPhone in Canada for this idea ;)
Will an iPhone work in Australia? Can I just pop in a SIM card and use it in Australia?
- An iPhone will work in Australia, but will need to be unlocked. You
CANNOT just pop in your SIM card for it to work. It must be unlocked to
be used with Vodafone, Optus, Telstra or Virgin (the GSM networks in Australia). It will
NOT work with 3 or Telstra 3G.
Where can I buy an iPhone? I want one so bad! What features will work?
I have my iPhone. Now what?
- Your iPhone needs to be “activated”, “jailbroken”, and “unlocked”.
New iPhones are running 1.1.3. Follow the guide posted about
using ZiPhone. Unlocking should take less than 3 minutes if you follow
the instructions correctly!
What are these “SIM” solutions I keep hearing about?
- Previously, iPhones that came with 1.1.2 firmware could not be
unlocked. However, someone came out with a SIM “clone” that would trick
your iPhone into believeing it was an AT&T SIM card, allowing you
to use any SIM from around the world.
Should I update my iPhone’s firmware? I want to update to 1.1.1/1.1.2/1.1.3!
- Here’s the motto when it comes to these things: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
So many people have had itchy fingers to update their iPhone’s
firmware, only to get stuck at a certain stage where nobody can help
them, rendering their once perfectly working iPhone useless. Unless you
are absolutely sure of what you are doing, I would recommend sticking
with your iPhone’s current firmware!
When is the iPhone being released in Australia?
- No-one knows. The delay is due to carrier discussions between Apple and Telstra/Optus.
I’ve unlocked my iPhone! Yes! I need a case to protect my new investment. Any suggestions?
- Check out our shop (orange button at the top of the page) and buy some accessories!
How do I download 3rd party applications to my iPhone?
- 3rd party applications are installed via the program called Installer on your iPhone.
I want to put on ringtones. What’s the easiest way?
- iPhoneRingToneMaker is worth its weight in gold. You can edit, create, and transfer an mp3 ringtone to your iPhone in less than one minute.
Thanks for your fantastic website and your contests! How can I say “thank you?”
- Well, you’re welcome! Just a quick thank you email or posting a comment is all we need! However, if you want to do more, feel free to donate.

Three days ago, we posted a four step instruction to unlock your BL 4.6 iPhone.
Today, we present to you how to do it in one.

For those of you who didn't already read about ZiPhone, by Zibri, do so at his blog.
This program is based on geohot's unlock so 99% of the credits goes to him.
He released it as command line only, and a simple WINDOWS shell (graphical user interface) was made for it to make it a little easier for the lazy ones, or the novice.
The process of jailbreaking, activating and unlocking a brand new phone is less than 3 minutes!
Download ZiPhone Shell by Unlock.no here (9MB, self-extracting zip)
Note: .NET framework 2.0 required (most of you should have that installed)

Hadn't noticed this until today. Although my call register displayed received numbers as the correct contact name, SMS's I received were not. :( They were coming through with the country code up front. This is a major issue as I receive many SMS's each day. But have no fear..there is a solution. Just follow these steps. - Download the required patch files by clicking here or here.
- Create a directory named "Support" in the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/ directory on your iPhone.
- Copy the "AppSupport" and "AppSupport.original" files from the zip file to the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/ directory on your iPhone.
- Copy the "PhoneNumber.dylib" and "PhoneNumberTemplates.txt" files from the zip file to the /System/Library/Frameworks/AppSupport.framework/Support/ directory on your iPhone.
- Optimize the "PhoneNumberTemplates.txt" file on your iPhone by moving all templates for your country to the top of the file and/or removing templates for countries that you don't need.
- Reboot iPhone.
This is confirmed working on both my iPhones. |
